36

Winter's approach
comes fast and steady

In the summer the
wind blows and so do
the dandelions

The winter brings cold
chills that feel like nothing
and blow nothing

the streets are barren
like his soul
for the winter comes
with no control

it stops and mimics
us with warmth
for when it returns
we scorn

nothingness
is what it blows

and the secrets it keeps
and holds - for when will
we see the heat again

another time when
we're not human
it's when we turn into
flowers and plants

as the Son returns -
we prance and dance
we remain cold
the streets empty

the wind blows nothing
except ice and leaves
and when it chills we
hardly breathe

We stupor then chill
like a dead man's body
when the Son returns
we win the lottery.

35

realize
that this
 ought not be
 bought

but given away

a canvas
 materials
careful strokes
 and details

34

I stumbled upon
a winter's chill
the wind blew
toward - unnerving

The hand begun
to quake
and the heart
began to race
The knees became
brittle - shook
left then right

giving way to the floor
and then the latter.

33

Eagles fly 'round
their unknowing victim -
interests and power -
great incentives

lions wait to
pounce on a zebra
to return with flesh
and become the heroes

Cat crawls cautiously
to a naive black mouse
as it makes an approach
in a white house.

32

I would be dumb -
bored scare and blind

to forfeit the thing
that had made me sublime

or let it pass -
as if I were an onion -
with multiple layers

who put on the skin -
when I was in fear

'stead I decided to
peal layers off -
To expose my true weakness -
'T was you -
'T was love.

31

a feeling impending -
like the top of a hill
when you're going too fast-
time stands still

a secret found out-
leaves the body in drought
the mouth becomes dry -
as we relive the lie

a departure from earth -
an impious life -
leaves us empty -
for heaven, we strive.

30

A walk like any other
- day after day

whether the sky
is blue black
or cold steel grey

On this day
the shadow is gone
feelings thronged for
the redwood forgotten

a stump on the trail
I had worn -
a remembrance
of friendship-
our roots had
not been torn

Until the day
we see again -
whether you be
a chair or paper thin.

29

The fly unsuspecting -
creeps on a web

To find security -
a villain instead

feels a slight tremble-
when followed by him

First blue - then red -
the walk comes to an end.

28

Bring forth thy
intention's desires

Blood boils hot
and blue like sapphire

The eyes roll back-
like those of the dead

But we're most alive
when we're in bed.

27

Distrust me
for what they see
is neither dark nor light
apologetically

Unravel thoughts
of blackened white
explode through walls
with insight.

26

'Til death did us part
Did I realize or even surmise
that this grandmother-
away - was occasionally mine

Her touch was unknown
her voice - unheard
This stranger that
have my descent to this earth.

25

To judge another
is to judge the most divine

For he made man -
his image - 72 hours time.

24

Let us ignite
the spark

Let it be synthetic
not natural

Let it burn out
we can relight.

23

Upon Death's window
I have crept

The mirror image
I could not forget

and with a calm
tranquility

Death opened up his
door for me.

22

The days seem
most perfect -
when locked away

chains to a job
like chains to a slave

An imperial master -
he screams and he yells

and when I return -
an attempt to escape hell.

21

I entered a school
old in it's ways,
the ceiling was crumbling
I was lost in a gaze

I went to a classroom
the books were all old -
filled with old knowledge
- the teachers - all sold.

The ceiling began falling
so I ran out the school
when I stepped outside
the buildings 'round fell too.

20

I drive a
long way

I build a
tall tower

as I progress I use
more and more power

My mind has
been numbed

My soul has
been distanced

On my return
I hit home
in an instant

19

I looked away
- saw life before
Trees changed color
-centuries - alor

Referendum brought to
by days of the Son
dry leaves and snow -
over summer had won

18

Love is felt when -
Twin Tower's presence -
Last Supper's pigments -
Atlantis's sediment -
it's gone.

17

I refuse to believe
this body of lies

I reject the belief
that everyone dies

the accepted truth
foreboding as death

is taken as truth
rather than myth.

16

I feel hot
when lips touch flesh -
rough embrace - swift caress
vivid image I should picture less
with it - comes secret temptation -
with that - illustrative imagination -
which leaves room for elaboration - that is - until
consummation

15

Wisdom brought
by teeth last grown.
lets not distinguish frog from toad.

Eyes that pierce the skin
to see within
are lost in awe -
in amazement.

14

What challenge
have I sought?
An analysis of sorts
- don't know where to start

Should I analyze
the diction -
rather the paper
it's on

or the imagery
or the way it
sings a song.

13

To repair the cloth
we must pillage with needles,
tear the fabric
barricade the knot.

Instruct the strings
where to go,
keep an eye over
the fingers we drop below.

We sacrifice time
and strings
to fix the cloth
for torn, it seems.

12

'T was blood
'T was mine
a feeling
so sublime

mortality -
knocks at my gate.

A feeling I
cannot escape.

11

Indulgence -
is what they say
on a self sponsored
floating parade.

But to be great,
is not so fair.

Talk to me,
they wouldn't dare.

Instead, they
turn their backs
and go.

For this night
I sleep alone.

10

with no surprise
a man - his wife
in his eyes
circumstance - in his mind
the image- hath not
made him blind
'stead it made him realize

That man and woman
are not husband and wife

9

He wears White
Black - at times
just - but unjust
Honesty - his disguise
He wear Black
sometimes

8

Giants - they say
grant us Life and Liberty

7

Latimer is here
in our blood and vains*
Rocks camouflaged
in cameras

Bandanas replace
original thought
and the only
sense in 'em
is the one purchased
through a catalog.

*I so mean vain and not vein

6

A moment of pleasure
never tasted so sweet
as after years of tribulation
pain and tears.

A strawberry never tasted so sweet
as after a rock of salt

and the dark never seemed so
soothing as after an encounter with the Son*.

*I do mean Son and not Sun

5

Forget my parents strive,
ambitions once achieved
to all those that have seen
a coming reprieve for me.

4

Does prosperity help
mend my calloused feet and hands?
help me eliminate
past and present self once again?

3

Burn slow
for love, like beauty
is merely skin deep

the outright distrust
the push-forth resentment
all to pursue his own
contentment.

2

Speak
for Love yells it's name too soft
the mountains and waterfalls are not enough
to bar us from uncertainty
of everlasting tranquility
the restful place of the soul
is not heaven as myth be told

To love is to subside

1

Speak
Do Roses not have
distinct beauty
as they do smell?

Do they not dance in
the wind
and die in the fall?
Are mere mortals of
comparison?

Could we, in the realm
of possibility, see this as true?

Do souls not die, just
to be reborn in the spring?
Do mere mortals not dance
in the wind?
